Subject: Using ACT! 1.1 For Windows With WinFax PRO 3.0
Using WinFax Options in ACT! 1.1
--------------------------------
From within ACT! 1.1 for Windows, select Edit, Preferences,
Miscellaneous to access the new WinFax options.
- Auto WinFax
This option establishes a DDE link between ACT! and WinFax. When you
print to WinFax from an ACT! document with this option enabled, the
contact's name and fax number are filled in automatically in the
WinFax PRO Send Fax dialog.
If Auto WinFax is disabled, you must select the contact's name and
fax number from the ACT!Phonebook when the WinFax PRO Send Fax dialog
appears.
Note: With Auto WinFax enabled, any dial prefix set up in ACT! is
included in the Fax field of the WinFax PRO Send Fax dialog.
Select the entry from the ACT!Phonebook to remove the dial prefix
from the fax number. If you send most of your faxes from ACT!,
disable the Use Prefix option in WinFax to avoid duplicating the
dial prefix. Otherwise, disable the ACT! dial prefix.
- Use WinFax Icon
With this option enabled, a WinFax icon appears in the ACT! icon bar.
Click on this icon to quickly fax the active ACT! document.
Click on OK in the ACT! Print dialog. If Auto WinFax is also enabled,
the contact's name and fax number appear automatically in the WinFax
PRO Send Fax dialog.
After sending your fax, the printer option returns to the ACT! default
printer.
Using the ACT!Phonebook in WinFax PRO
-------------------------------------
The following conditions apply to using the ACT!Phonebook from within
WinFax PRO.
- Records in the ACT!Phonebook are sorted alphabetically by company.
- You cannot use the Groups, Search, Add to Phonebook, Make Group or
Sort options in conjunction with the ACT!Phonebook.
- If ACT! is running when you open the ACT!Phonebook, the active ACT!
database records are displayed. If ACT! is not running, the default
database records are displayed. You cannot open a different ACT!
database for the ACT!Phonebook from within WinFax.
Notes: For additional details on using ACT! 1.1 for Windows with WinFax,
refer to the ACT! for Windows Addendum from Contact Software
International.
If you are using a version of WinFax PRO 3.0 dated prior to
April 21, 1993, you should upgrade to the WinFax PRO maintenance
release. See the related document below.
